Master's degree in the biological sciences or related field is required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of 2-4 years of post-graduate experience working in a biomedical research laboratory is required. Strong research experience in the following areas is highly desired: mammalian cell culture, iPSC culture, molecular biology techniques, membrane protein purification and Western blotting. Additional consideration will be given to applicants with skills in electrophysiology. A history of writing scientific publications is desired. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required.
Principal duties:
The Researcher will contribute to a highly collaborative group studying ion channel biology using electrophysiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, microscopy and biophysical approaches. Duties include, but not limited to: mammalian and iPSC cell culture, DNA/RNA purification, quantitative RT-PCR, PCR, western blotting, DNA cloning, and membrane protein biochemisty. Expectations include completing independent research experiments under the guidance of the PI, analyzing and presenting data, maintaining a well-documented lab notebook, designing methodologies, and managing the day-to-day running of the lab. Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to participation in regular lab meetings, journal club, laboratory organization, documentation and regulatory compliance, working with and training undergraduate and graduate students, and writing manuscripts.
