Position Summary:
The La Follette School is highly ranked among graduate degree public policy programs and enjoys a worldwide reputation for research and teaching. This position is responsible for providing complex financial support to the La Follette School by providing funds management and oversight. This position provides financial oversight of School and faculty accounts to ensure compliance with budgets and with university, state, and granting agency guidelines and regulations. The position works both independently under general supervision and as part of a team to manage multiple priorities and perform responsibilities accurately within time deadlines.

Principal duties:
Under the supervision of the Department Administrator, the Funds Manager will:
1) Monitor financial transactions and fund balances and generate and reconcile complex reports and statements in accordance with established rules and regulations (20%)
2) Process, review, approve, and audit complex transactions and assign funding codes in accordance with budget and established rules, regulations, and policies (10%)
3) Reallocate expenses to appropriate funding strings (15%)
4) Draft communications and reports and maintain organization of varied records, including School financial records (10%)
5) Answer complex fiscal questions and provide information based on accounting principles, UW policies and procedures, and fund requirements (10%)
6) Review transaction processing internal controls and recommend policies and procedures (5%)
7) Provide financial advice, recommendations, and financial status updates to the Department Administrator, Associate Director, Director, and Principal Investigators (15%)
8) Train staff on financial processes and best practices as needed (5%)
9) Serve as Effort Coordinator and assist faculty and Payroll Specialist with salary allocation planning (10%)
