Position Summary:
The Regional Dairy Educator is an exciting new position in the UW-Madison Division of Extension, designed to meet the research-based educational and outreach needs of dairy producers in Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, and Rock counties and across the state.

The Division of Extension serves the people and communities of Wisconsin by addressing local, statewide and national issues, improving lives through research-based education, fostering partnerships and action, and facilitating positive impacts. This position is a part of the Division of Extension┬┐s Agriculture Institute. The Agriculture Institute facilitates and develops research-based educational programs and informational materials around agricultural and horticultural topics for farm businesses, individuals and families in Wisconsin.

A Regional Dairy Educator will be a leader in applying research findings and providing education and outreach efforts to dairy producers. This is done through assessment of needs and designing, delivering, and evaluating research-based educational programming and services to meet these needs.

This position is a part of the Agriculture Institute┬┐s Dairy and Livestock Program and will cover:
1. Dairy production, including animal health, milk production, animal housing and handling, and manure management
2. The Educator will be expected to work with the Program to select one aspect of dairy production to develop and maintain expertise that is complementary to other staff and shared across the state.

Principal duties:
Programming (60%)
1. Develop educational programs relevant the positions emphasis;
2. Provide technical assistance and expertise related to programmatic emphasis;
3. Contribute to program planning efforts by providing specialized content/focus area expertise and insight;
4. Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of programming to ensure appropriate organizational learning and adaptation; and
5. Expand access by reaching and engaging diverse audiences and ensuring full access to programs and educational services;

Collaboration & Relationships (30%)
1. Develop and/or support partnerships and community coalitions/groups that inform programming and extend programmatic reach to expand impact;
2. Collaborate with statewide colleagues within and across organizational structures to develop and adapt standardized and relevant programming and;
3. Promote Extension and its programs to build greater access, visibility and value

Programmatic planning, reporting and communication (10%)
1. Communicate plans, activities and achievements to Area Extension Director, Program Manager and relevant stakeholders;
2. Create an annual plan of work that identifies audiences, describes the programming to meet needs and connects to the larger program objectives of the Division of Extension Agriculture Institute;
3. Submit quarterly reports that summarize the impact of programming and meet the requirements, policies, and established practices of the Division of Extension and partners, including federal Civil Rights requirements.
