Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for Event Operations, serve as the Assistant Director of Events.

Principal duties:
* Serve as the primary point of contact in a leadership/guidance role while meeting regularly with athletic department staff, campus organizations, external vendors, and clients to plan and coordinate the execution of numerous large-scale and logistically complicated events including but not limited to intercollegiate athletics, conference and national championships, high school championships, campus activities, and community support functions.
* Develop and create complex planning documents from development thru implementation working with cross-functional departments to prepare detailed plans, outlines, and diagrams for distribution to working personnel in order to carry out contractual and departmental obligations in conjunction with complex and high-profile events hosted by the Athletic Department.
* Develop and create innovative budget solutions for complex events. Create budget/financial documents (estimates-quotes-bids-settlements-invoices-statements) for assigned events including athletic department sport seasons, NCAA events, Big Ten Conference championships, WCHA playoffs, and individual events hosted by the athletic department. Prepare and negotiate competitive bid packages from prospective vendors and suppliers.
* Independently operate and carry out assigned responsibilities while working with the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Capital Projects, the Assistant Athletic Director for Event Operations, and the Director of Events in overseeing and contributing to the efficient operation of the Athletic Department.
* Perform specialized services related to the planning/execution of large-scale events managed/hosted by the Athletic Department and work with senior administration from the Athletic Department, campus, Big Ten Conference, and external clients.
* Develop a thorough knowledge of campus policies as they relate to office functions and have the ability to exercise sound judgment in the interpretation and application of those policies, in particular, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Intercollegiate Athletics policies governing use of facilities.
* Works regularly with staff, students, faculty, guests, and clients of the Athletic Department and the University of Wisconsin-Madison
* The incumbent must possess an understanding of the university community as a unique setting for social education; have knowledge of and sensitivity to current student concerns and campus climate; and demonstrate sensitivity to multiculturalism and diversity issues.
* The ability to work and communicate effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously is essential.
* Ability to work a flexible and non-traditional work schedule is required including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
