Position Summary:
This is an Electrician-Journey position with the Facilities Planning and Management Division, Physical Plant, Electric Shop. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: installing, maintaining, and repairing all electrical installations on campus. Remodeling buildings in accordance with specifications. Maintaining and repairing electrical facilities to enhance the safety and comfort of all users. The work is performed under the general direction of the Electric Shop Supervisor.

Principal duties:
A. 40% Remodeling of campus buildings
1. Remove existing electrical material which is being replaced or no longer needed.
2. Install electrical circuitry including panel boards, circuit breakers, conduit, wire, switches, fuses, receptacles, lighting fixtures, motor starters, etc.
3. Make electrical connections to heating, ventilating, air conditioning, laboratory, and other fixed and movable equipment.
4. Install special electrical systems such as fire alarm, class bell, audio, audio-visual, digital control, clock, emergency alarm, and telephone systems.
5. Install high voltage cable, switchgear, and transformers which includes cable, switchgear, and transformers, which include cable splicing and terminating.
6. Erect scaffolding as needed.

B. 60% Maintain and repair electrical equipment and systems
1. Conduct preventative maintenance on assigned electrical systems such as fire alarm, emergency power, and high voltage distribution.
2. Repair electrical circuitry, apparatus and equipment as listed in A2, A3, A4, and A5.
