Position Summary:
Leads and participates in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of the UW-Madison College of Engineering websites. Serves as a subject matter expert, consultant, and main point of contact to internal and external stakeholders regarding website support. This position reports to the College of Engineering Associate Director of Digital Marketing and works closely with colleagues across the college marketing, communications and department teams. The position offers an exciting opportunity to directly impact our efforts to establish and build our brand identity.

Principal duties:
Web operations - 50%
Plans, implements, manages, monitors, and upgrades the unit's websites including intranets
Ensures website functionality and maintains existing website operation including implementing the content management system (CMS), making content updates, conducting content audits, and updating computer programming languages which may include HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Responds and troubleshoots website issues
Ensures website quality, efficiency, and compliance with accessibility, security, privacy, and other university requirements and laws
Monitors web traffic and website performance, and assesses performance to optimize the website and to identify, prevent, and resolve issues

User experience - 35%
Leads and executes user experience research
Selects appropriate methods
Synthesizes research results and advocates for users based on quantitative and/or qualitative evidence
Develops personas, use cases, and user journeys to support the design process
Strategizes ways to improve the user experience of the website
Conceptualizes and designs user experiences and interfaces via wireframes, prototypes, templates, and user flows using a variety of appropriate tools (e.g. sketches, Keynote, Axure)
Collaborates with technologists across campus to navigate the technical landscape and advocate for enhancements, including mobile/responsive design, frameworks and APIs
Assists in the creation of user stories that will inform software development

Strategy - 15%
Collaborates with others to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the unit's web guidelines and standards
Collaborates internally and externally on information architecture strategy
