Position Summary:
The Office of Admissions and Recruitment is seeking temporary application readers September through mid-March. Readers have the flexibility to read remotely and will receive extensive training in holistic application review, which entails the detailed review of transcripts, school profiles, test scores if provided, activities, essays, and letters of recommendation.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a public research university and the flagship institution of the University of Wisconsin System. Located within the Division of Enrollment Management, the Office of Admissions and Recruitment receives 50,000+ applications annually from prospective undergraduate students. The office follows a holistic application review process that is designed to identify and enroll an academically competitive and diverse incoming class that contributes to a vibrant learning community. The Office of Admissions and Recruitment values campus partnerships and seeks to advance college access and educational opportunity for students across the state and around the world.

Principal duties:
A. 90% Undergraduate Admissions Application Evaluation

1. Conduct a thorough first review of freshman and transfer applications.
2. Utilize a holistic, competitive and selective review process to make admissions recommendations.
3. Develop an understanding of grading systems, curricula, school activities, essays, test scores, and letters of
recommendation--and how they are considered in the review process.
4. Use professional judgment to seek consultation from more experienced admissions team members.
5. Some readers will be asked to further support international and/or transfer review.

B. 10% Miscellaneous Activities

1. Attend meetings and training sessions as required to further knowledge.
2. Conduct research related to admissions processes and policies.
3. Data entry and correction in SIS (Student Information System) as needed.
4. Additional projects as assigned.
