Position Summary:
The successful candidate will conduct research under the guidance of the PI involving molecular biology techniques. Approaches employed include molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and genomics. Personal initiative, independence, strong organizational abilities and enthusiasm for laboratory research are essential.

Principal duties:
50% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
- Cloning, PCR, site-directed mutagenesis), protein expression (bacterial protein expression and purification), RNA methodology (isolation and manipulation, generating synthetic mRNAs) and mammalian cell culture (cell lines and iPS cells

10% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
- Biological, chemical and radiation safety lab duties, ordering supplies, maintaining laboratory records, preparation of laboratory reagents, maintaining laboratory equipment

10% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
- Attend and present at regular group meetings

10% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
- Active participant in the lab.

10% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
- Supervising student (hourly) workers and training laboratory staff in techniques and protocols

10% Performs literature reviews and writes reports
- Assist with preparing portions of scientific manuscripts
