Position Summary:
The Office of the Provost at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks to hire an experienced higher education professional to join the executive team of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning (VPTL). The successful candidate will have both general expertise in teaching and learning in higher education and specific expertise in both teaching and learning with technology and data-informed educational practices, including assessment of student learning.

The individual who assumes this position will report to the VPTL in the Office of the Provost. The VPTL's portfolio broadly includes implementation of the new campus-wide Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring; educational innovation and policy-setting; undergraduate education; online learning; classroom and learning climate; educational technology; undergraduate student advising and academic support services; and data-informed educational practices including student learning assessment and learning analytics.

Principal duties:
The Assistant or Associate Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning (AVPTL) will:
- (25%) Serve as a member of the VPTL's executive leadership team, which works strategically to advance effective policy and practice across the teaching and learning domains on campus and to support effective academic and curricular planning, course design, pedagogy and student learning. As part of this team, the AVPTL will work closely with leadership in the newly created Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring and the Office of Undergraduate Advising, as well as with other colleagues in the Office of the Provost.
- (25%) Direct the Office of Student Learning Assessment, leading the development and implementation of institutional policy, strategy and programs to advance data informed educational practices and support institutional accreditation, academic program assessment, course assessment and learning analytics--all in partnership with the Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring, campus level colleagues, schools, colleges and departments.
- (25%) Work closely with the VPTL to coordinate educational technology initiatives, assess and respond to technology-related developments in higher education, monitor and enhance UW-Madison's student digital ecosystem, and ensure best practices of data stewardship in the teaching and learning domain.
- (20%) Represent the VPTL on several campus-wide and school/college level committees such as the Online Undergraduate Degrees Committee, General Education Committee, Our Shared Future Committee, etc. and build collaborative and sustainable relationships between the VPTL and campus colleagues, including leaders of schools, colleges and departments.
- (5%) Collaborate on additional initiatives and special projects as directed by the VPTL.
