Position Summary:
The Nutrition Educator is a member of the Milwaukee County FoodWIse team. Nutrition Educators are peer educators who adapt teaching to honor cultures and experiences. We engage people from the diverse communities of Wisconsin to adopt healthy food and physical activity habits.

This position is a part of the Division of Extension Institute of Health and Well-Being and the FoodWIse Program. FoodWIse is a community-based nutrition program that seeks to empower individuals with limited incomes to make healthy choices to achieve healthy lives and reduce health disparities. FoodWIse is federally funded by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) and Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP) grants.

Principal duties:
Programming (80%):
1. Teach culturally responsive educational programs to adults and youth using learner-centered activities and lessons.
2. Work collaboratively with Nutrition Coordinator and community partners to plan and implement interventions that improve healthy food access and make healthy food choices practical and available to all community members.
3. Reach and engage diverse audiences in ways that are inclusive and do not discriminate.
4. Build rapport with participants while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Collaboration and relationships (10%):
1. Collaborate with local colleagues to promote a positive office environment, determine local needs and share resources.
2. Develop and maintain respectful working relationships.
3. Promote University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension and its programs to build greater access, visibility and value.

Administrative and Programmatic Accountability (10%):
1. Report to the Nutrition Program Administrator
2. Participate in FoodWIse training and professional development
3. Communicate regularly and appropriately with direct supervisor and colleagues
4. Arrive to teaching sites on-time
5. Work independently and communicate effectively with program partners
6. Maintain organized program participation and evaluation records
7. Report results in a timely manner
8. In keeping with the purpose of this position, promote and practice healthy eating and, as physically able, low impact physical activity concepts during teaching sessions
9. Be responsive to evolving position, program, office and organizational needs
10. Perform adjusted or additional duties as requested by supervisor
