Position Summary:
The Chapman Lab in the Department of Neuroscience has several interests related to mechanisms of membrane fusion, synaptic transmission and synaptic plasticity. The Research Technician will perform animal colony maintenance, oversee the genotyping program, and perform weekly rat dissections for a medium sized lab. The position will be a back-up to the lab manager and may perform tasks such as supply maintenance for experimental needs, assistance with equipment maintenance, and help managing safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. The technican may conduct research independently or in collaboration with other lab members. Special projects may be assigned as needed.

Principal duties:
RESP 1: Performs lab and/or field test materials and samples according to established research requirements and specifications. Performs lab or field tests (50%)
RESP 2: Inspects and maintains equipment, supplies, inventory, and facility spaces (30%)
RESP 3: Collects data and monitors test results according to established research requirements and specifications (10%)
RESP 4: May assist with literature reviews and/or report writing (5%)
RESP 5: Reviews data to summarize results for presentations or reporting (5%)
