Position Vacancy Listing

PVL # 232829

Position Summary:
This researcher position will work in the Survey of the Health of Wisconsin (SHOW) research program in the Department of Population Health Sciences in the School of Medicine & Public Health at UW-Madison. The SHOW program collects data on a broad set of health determinants and aims to build the infrastructure to support ongoing data collection, follow-up surveys, and support community action and translational research efforts for both community partners and faculty researchers in the school.

SHOW also serves as an infrastructure for executing additional research projects or ancillary studies, sometimes as separate studies, sometimes added into the annual SHOW core survey. SHOW serves as a coordinating center, managing the design, implementation, and analysis and playing a critical role in communication and quality control for these research studies.

Recently SHOW became a formal member of the UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) through establishment of the SHOW Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) shared service. The goal of the shared service is to support cancer prevention research using study design, survey design expertise and SHOW data or biosamples for advancing translational and prevention research among Wisconsin residents.

The overall goal of this position is to coordinate and manage the core activities of the SHOW CPC as well as to support (as resources allow) additional ancillary study coordination beyond studies proposed by UWCCC members. This position will include the following activities: planning, communicating with research partners, oversight of protocol implementation and data management. This individual will serve as a liaison between the administrative and science teams pertaining to ancillary study protocol implementation in the field. This position will be under the general supervision of the SHOW Associate Director.

Finally, SHOW CPC and the core SHOW program need support for maintaining correspondence with the University Institutional Review Board. This position will be asked to become familiar with and serve as the key liaison of the SHOW program with the UW IRB.

The School of Medicine and Public Health has a deep and profound commitment to diversity both as an end in itself but, also as a valuable means for eliminating health disparities. As such, we strongly encourage applications from candidates who foster and promote the values of diversity and inclusion.
