Position Summary:
This position is sponsored by a research contract from a pharmaceutical company to test their novel drugs in Fragile X mice. The principal duties of the scientist will be to conduct experiments, analyze data, train and supervise undergraduate research assistants and to collaborate with the PI in reporting the results. Additional duties will be to assist with other ongoing studies in the laboratory. Strong independent problem-solving skills, ability to work smoothly with others, and experience in scientific writing and figure production is expected.

Principal duties:
(70%) Data collection and analysis: Perform or supervise all aspects of data collection and analysis as directed by the PI. Organize and present results. Give lab meeting presentations, prepare posters and abstracts, attend and present at conferences, and produce initial drafts of progress reports and manuscripts.

(20%) Supervise trainees: Instruct students and other laboratory personnel in how to perform various experiments, set up regular meetings and communication to help them work through projects, and assist with production of posters and reports.

(10%) Lab management: Ensure proper acquisition and storage of laboratory reagents for ongoing studies, assist with the preparation of Biosafety, IACUC, IRB submissions and visits as needed, and maintain laboratory safety training records.

Incumbent will be expected to perform other related duties as assigned and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
