Position Summary:
Leads the development and implementation of proactive diversity, equity, and inclusion educational initiatives in support of the division's strategic plan to create a learning and working environment where all have an opportunity to succeed.

Develops, coordinates, and delivers diversity-related professional development opportunities for faculty, staff and students across the campus in areas such as workplace diversity, cross-cultural proficiency communication, and conflict resolution. Responsible for recognizing, creating, and implementing plans to promote inclusive excellence within the university. A significant part of the role is promoting and developing training programs to enhance employee understanding on workplace and campus inclusion issues. The incumbent will oversee 1.0 FTE during 2021-2022, with a potential reporting line expansion in future years.

The ideal candidate is deeply passionate about DEI, has strong program management skills, and can collaborate with a wide variety of employees, departments, leadership teams, and external partners as needed.

The position requires the employee to be highly organized and able to lead projects and teams. The incumbent must excel at working both independently and in collaboration with Colleges, Schools, and Divisions and campus partners.

The incumbent will participate in institutional initiatives and encourage the participation of others, while collaborating in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service.

Job Responsibilities:
- Serves as a liaison between the division and Colleges/Schools/Divisions, administrative units, and other campus partners and represents the division to the external community, organizations, and agencies.
- Participates in strategic planning initiatives and establishes divisional objectives to ensure appropriate allocation of resources
- Partners with institutional leaders, faculty, students, staff, and internal and external constituency groups to ensure programming supports the division's priorities, values, and strategic goals and assesses and monitors program effectiveness
- Coordinates staff professional development and onboarding

Principal duties:
30% Professional Development and Facilitation
- Create customized professional development programs to meet the needs of the UW-Madison community
- Coordinate with external resources to design and offer resources across the university with a focus on faculty and staff professional development

20% Development & Design
- Develop a robust portfolio of professional development opportunities for faculty and staff that include in-person workshops and distributed learning models
- Develop certificate programs that demonstrate a progression of cultural proficiency
- Develop a library of diversity-related resources for the University community
- Design "train the trainer" and other programs to increase facilitator capacity across campus

20% Coordination & Administration
- Act as main staff support to a range of DEI professional development and education committees and working groups
- In concert with supervisor, manage a budget to implement projects, seminars, workshops, conferences, and related activities
- Provide leadership for cross-campus workgroup and teams
- Collaborate with central campus offices and College/School/Divisional EDI leaders and offices

20% Consultation and Collaboration
- Acts as an internal consultant to the institution on issues related to diversity and inclusion
- Assists with the development and maintenance of institutional diversity and inclusion strategic planning for the university

10% Assessment and Evaluation
- Collaborate with HR to incorporate professional development into the learning management system to track mandatory training compliance
- Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of professional development to facilitate continuous improvement and scholarship
