Position Summary:
The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) IT Manager reports to the DFMCH ITS Director and provides and develops day-to-day operational oversight of IT function(s), program(s), or service(s) to support organizational and employee technology needs. This position will initially be responsible for oversight of the DFMCH End User Services group and the DFMCH Systems Solutions group. Additional groups may follow with time. The position will oversee day-to-day operations as well as participate in project planning, and execution of strategic and operational projects. The IT Manager will work closely with the ITS Director to develop and execute strategic plans based on departmental needs and initiatives. Additionally, this position will be expected to participate directly the execution of projects. This is a hands-on position with the expectation and that successful candidate will be involved in day-to-day work on projects.

Principal duties:
-Develops, plans, and directs staff implementation of information technology systems and solutions.
-Works closely with department IT leadership to understand departmental vision and priorities and assists with development of IT strategic plans and projects.
-Oversees and participates in the evaluation of new technology solutions and platforms and makes recommendations to IT leadership.
-Evaluates existing strategy and makes recommendations to information technology leadership for program enhancement.
-Develops and mentors IT staff. Works with staff to develop educational plans and support training where necessary.
-Works with IT leadership and IT System Security to identify, propose, and implement new or revised information technology operational policies and procedures.
-Works closely with ITS Communications group to identify, develop and deliver IT-based training materials.
-Develops and implements the unit personnel resource allocation plan including hiring, developing, training, and supervision.
-Resolves non-routine personnel issues.
-Works with the ITS Director to develop the annual ITS budget and monitor expenses.
