Job Summary:The primary role of this position is to provide a sophisticated level of administrative support to the Vice Chair of Education within the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM), part of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health (UW SMPH). The department is composed of 40+ faculty physicians, 36 residents, 15+ mid-level providers, and a growing number of staff members. This position will assist faculty and staff in the successful performance of the departmental clinical, teaching, administrative, and research activities. Responsibilities include continuous tracking, prioritizing, organizing, and communicating of multiple ongoing initiatives at various stages of progress. The position requires outstanding administrative, organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills, as well as the ability to work independently and proactively. The position must interface with outside physicians and administrators.

This position functions under limited supervision, reporting to the Department Administrators. Work direction and guidance will also be provided by individual physicians and staff.

Requirements:
1. Outstanding interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent command of spoken and written English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
2. Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, such as Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Vizio, Survey Monkey, and Word. Familiarity with email, internet, and other computer skills preferred. Ability to conduct literature reviews as needed.
3. Previous administrative work experience in an office setting or clinic.
4. Knowledge of ACGME Requirements and Policies preferred.
5. No degree required. A degree (associate or higher) in medical administrative support or similar field, preferred.

Typical office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Schedule flexible to the meet the needs of the Department. Attendance expected at residency special events held outside of work hours.
