EVALUATION PERIODS FOR ACADEMIC STAFF APPOINTMENTS |
Initial fixed-term appointments include a period of evaluation during which the employee may be dismissed with the approval of the dean, director, or designee, and without right of appeal. The length of the evaluation period must be at least six months but no more than 12 months (unless an exception is made, see Academic Staff Policies and Procedures [ASPP]). If the appointment letter does not specify the period of evaluation, it is set for six months.
For specific information on the policies and procedures on evaluation periods for academic staff appointments, see ASPP Ch. 2.
