Appointment as associate professor (CHS) or full professor (CHS) will require that candidate's credentials meet criteria for rank established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.
Principal duties:
The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon to support the growth and development of an expanding surgical critical care program.

UW Hospital is the only hospital in the state, and one of just 13 nationwide to be verified and accredited by the ACS as a Level One Trauma Center. The trauma service currently comprises 10 faculty members offering a full array of complex trauma, surgical critical care, burn, and acute care surgery services. The service line is vibrant and growing and is backed by a strong institutional commitment to further develop surgical services.

We are seeking outstanding candidates who are academically oriented and have a demonstrated track record of clinical excellence. Candidates should be board certified in General Surgery and have completed an accredited fellowship in Surgical Critical Care. Rank and clinical workload will depend on candidates interests and credentials. Incumbent will be expected to participate in and initiate clinical trials and bring an academic perspective to his/her practice. Incumbent will also participate in the training of general surgery residents and fellows, other residents, interns, and medical students.

The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public, and university service.
