Title Specifications

Job Summary:Under general supervision, this position performs entry level accounting activities for the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM), Business Services Office.

Duties include grant/contract/gift fiscal administration and grant/contract/gift financial report preparation. Extramural activities involve Federal, State, Corporate, Foreign, and Philanthropic sources of funding. Responsibilities include oversight and management of all SVM extramural grant/contract/gift accounts that include in excess of 400 active awards and annual expenditures of $20 million in FY2011 grant and gift funds. Individual will coordinate the oversight of extramural support operations; interpret and analyze financial data; maintain automated and/or manual extramural financial systems for the SVM; maintain policies and procedures to document extramural support financial system operations; maintain financial accounts, journals, ledgers, and other records within automated and/or manual financial systems; establish internal control mechanisms; train, advise, and instruct School staff on extramural support policies and procedures and in extramural accounting operations; prepare extramural support training materials and documentation; determine compliance with cost accounting standards; decide which of a number of policies, regulations, or procedures apply to a particular situation; establish and maintain records; determine cost allocation and methodologies; project financial revenues; and perform agency internal and external reconciliation.
