Job Summary:Sort, scan, load, and deliver MDS/SWAP and cross dock (including 30ft truck policy) merchandise in an efficient and safe manner within the mandated time limits. Delivers SWAP merchandise when leaving MDS and picks up SWAP items on return trips. Assist with filling orders for supplies ordered from MDS. Help keep warehouse and vehicles clean and free of debris. Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 

Goals and Worker Activities

A.85%Drive vehicle and deliver merchandise.
1.Sort, scan and load all orders to be delivered to assure efficient routing. Assist with unloading all MDS orders, prime vendor orders, cross dock (30ft truck policy) and SWAP purchases.
2.Scans packages according to prescribed procedures; demonstrates proficiency in features of service and equipment.
3.Makes cage runs, mail runs cylinder deliveries and pick ups, liquid nitrogen tank pick ups and deliveries, per MDS and federal regulations (including proper placarding of vehicles).
4.Obtain signatures on all FedEx, alcohol orders, 30 foot truck, refrigerator and freezer items, tools and expensive equipment, and return them to MDS.
5.Picks up SWAP items on return trips to MDS.
6.Maintains detailed daily log sheets recording ALL stops (separate log sheet for 30ft truck policy) and turn in to supervisor every night.
7.Deliver returned items (prime vendor returns, UPS to be sent out, MDS returns and exchanges, SWAP pick-ups, pallets, used toner cartridges, and peanuts)to proper destinations at MDS and SWAP location.
8.Keeps vehicle in proper operating condition. Must do daily vehicle Inspection report and turn in to supervisor. Help supervisor schedule both routine maintenance and repairs need to vehicles.
9.Maintains constant radio contact with base station and other drivers and assist other MDS and SWAP staff when and where necessary.
10.Fill in for other driver routes when necessary due to vacation and illness.
11.Keep inside of vehicles clean and neat at all times.
12.Keep outside of vehicles clean to present a positive image of MDS/SWAP.
   
B.5%Fills Orders (quick pick, case lots, etc) for delivery.
1.Fills orders checking off items as filled on the pick list. Initial and date each order.
2.Packs orders securely to avoid damage and labels packages for accurate delivery.
   
C.5%Additional duties.
1.Maintain a neat and orderly warehouse.
2.Assist with inventories as needed.
3.Assist in unloading incoming shipments.
4.Assist receiving and inspecting incoming goods via freight carriers, UPS, FedEx, etc.
5.Keep area around vehicles clean and free of debris daily.
6.Sweep warehouse daily.
7.Stack and organize pallets in the proper designated location daily.
8.Assist SWAP staff with moving merchandise to sales floor for weekly sales.
   
D.5%Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  1. Required to obtain and secure a commercial drivers license, including hazardous and Air brakes portions, as required by Federal transportation laws.
  2. Must comply with Federal trucking regulations
  3. Ability to handle large heavy skids of supplies.
  4. Knowledge of MDS/SWAP stock locations.
  5. Ability to operate electric forklifts in a safe manner.
  6. Ability to operate 4000 lbs. capacity swing nest lift.
  7. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  8. Knowledge of daily vehicle inspection reports
  9. Knowledge of how to properly placard your truck for delivery of hazardous materials per Federal regulations.
  10. Ability to efficiently and safely drive a large truck.
  11. Ability to spot potentially hazardous material problem and the proper handling methods.
  12. Must meet the UW Risk Management Driving Standards.
  13. Must wear steel toed shoes while at work.
  14. Must maintain a valid Lift Truck Operators Permit that meets OSHA requirements.
  15. Must use proper equipment to lift or move items at all times. Where necessary, use power pallet jacks, forklifts, etc, to avoid injuries.
