Expertise in a large hospital based Blood Bank and therapeutic apheresis is essential. Candidates
will possess diagnostic, administrative, leadership and interpersonal skills and show a record of
scholarly
achievement appropriate to the rank of Associate/Full Professor. Candidates must meet
criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for
appointment and promotion on the CHS
track.
Principal duties:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for an academic Director of Transfusion Medicine. Candidates must be board certified in clinical pathology or AP/CP as well as transfusion medicine. Expertise in a large hospital based blood bank and therapeutic apheresis is essential. Candidate must be qualified for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Wisconsin. Candidates will possess diagnostic, administrative, leadership and interpersonal skills and show a record of scholarly achievement appropriate to the rank of Associate/Full Professor (CHS track). The laboratory provides approximately 55,000 blood products annually to the University of Wisconsin Medical Center with support for comprehensive programs in cancer, transplantation and trauma. Successful applicant will be expected to staff the blood bank and apheresis services for 2-4 months per year, oversee QA/QC activities, contribute actively to the teaching of residents, transfusion fellows and medical students, mentor trainees, and participate in continuing medical education programs. Candidate will also be responsible for directing the ACGME-accredited transfusion medicine fellowship program. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
