PhD required; graduate degree in nursing or related health care field preferred.
License/certification:
RN license preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Prior experience in teaching at the University level.
The successful candidate will be a
nurse scientist or a scientist with a health-related background, with a strong program of research
and teaching consistent with tenure track or tenured appointment.
We particularly welcome
applications from individuals with background and experience in one or more of the following
application domains or research orientations applied to simulated
environments:
* Application domains: human simulation performance related to the development
of critical thinking skills and communication; simulations in interprofessional education;
simulation experiences designed to improve patient safety in acute care or community settings;
experienced in virtual reality designed to improve wellness of an aging population.
* Research orientations: development of cognitive skills in a simulated environment;
transfer of cognitive/psychomotor learning from simulated environment to practice
setting.
Principal duties:
The School of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks an assistant professor,
associate professor, or full professor in the field of simulated (live, virtual reality, and
computer-based) environments of health care.
The successful candidate will be expected to
engage in the three fold mission of the school of nursing: teaching excellent, research and
scholarship, and service. This faculty member will teach at the undergraduate and graduate level.
This faculty member will secure internal and external research funding support, conduct scholarly
research engage in research dissemination presenting their research at regional, national and
international scientific meetings, and author peer reviewed publications. School , university,
and professional service as appropriate is also an expectation.
The faculty of the
University of WisconsinżMadison School of Nursing has a notable record of interdisciplinary
collaborative research. Collaborations with the Center for Health Systems Research & Analysis
(CHSRA), Industrial Engineering, and the School of Medicine & Public Health are ongoing and offer
potential collegial relationships. The potential exists to hire an additional faculty member with a
complementary research program.

The School of Nursing is one of the nation's oldest university nursing programs, with a long and distinguished tradition of leadership in nursing research and education. The school is situated on the beautiful lakeshore campus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one of the world's leading public universities and research institutions. In 2012, the School of Nursing will break ground on the construction of a new $53 million state-of-the-art nursing building.
