Degree and area of specialization:
PhD in Biological or Biophysics Sciences.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Three years of post PhD experience in Neuroscience preferred. Experience required in electrophysiology, imaging, neural cell culture, molecular cloning, and manuscript preparation.
Principal duties:
The Assistant Scientist will be responsible for the design, implementation of experiments and analysis of data related to the function of neural cells that are generated from human embryonic stem (ES) and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. In particular, the scientist is expected to perform independently electrophysiological recording of cultured cells and brain slices and molecular imaging in addition to cell culture, immunocytochemistry, microscopy, and molecular cloning. S/he will demonstrate an ability to organize work within a group, including the oversight of technicians and students within the laboratory. The Assistant Scientist will prepare manuscripts and oral presentations of the research for professional organizations or scholarly publications. S/he is expected to seek for independent research funding.
