Registered Nurse degree required.
Bachelors degree in Nursing or related field

License/certification:
Current Registered Nurse License for the State of Wisconsin is required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum one year experience in nursing required.
One year experience in the field of
developmental disabilities
preferred.
Principal duties:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) must have a high degree of clinical expertise with a specific
focus on outreach health/nursing support for people with developmental disabilities. The Clinical
Nurse Specialist must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
Include:
- Provide Community Nursing to adults with developmental disabilities who receive
community-based services from Dane County. Collaborate with the Waisman Center-Training and
Consultation Program to assure that there is appropriate health care training for all personal care
workers.
- Work within a team of two or three other Clinical Nurse Specialists to research and
develop the Community Nursing Program as a model for applied best practice for Community Nursing to
the developmental disability population.
- Be prepared to present and share the Community
Nursing program to other parts of the region served by the Waisman Center's University Center for
Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.
- Work with the UW School of Nursing to offer the
Community Nursing Program as a practicum site for undergraduate and
graduate nurses.

Maintain an ongoing excellent relationship with the leadership team at Dane County Human
Services.
- Maintain ongoing excellent relationships with the agencies contracted in Dane County
to support people with developmental
disabilities.
- Work closely with the Registered Nurses
at Community Living Alliance who will be administering Medical Assistance Personal Care for the
adult DD population in Dane County.
- Develop an understanding of the Family Care model and
offer leadership in moving Community Nursing to Family Care for
Dane County Human
Services.
This position is expected to follow the policies, procedures, guidelines, and
standards for excellence and professionalism
established by the UWCCC and the University of
Wisconsin.
Additional Information:
A Criminal Background check will be performed.
Regular Business Hours
between 8:00am-5:00pm. Occasional early evenings.
The position is located at 122 East Olin
Avenue, Madison, Wi and has ample parking and good office
space.
