PhD required in a social sciences or humanities field, specialization in Hmong studies or related highland societies, and a current or developing Hmong studies focus.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Previous teaching experience at the college/university level desirable but not required.

Principal duties:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks candidates for a new assistant professor position in the field of Hmong studies. The candidate, irrespective of field, should have a current or developing specialization in Hmong studies in Southeast Asia and/or adjacent regions.

Duties include teaching and research regarding Hmong studies in Southeast Asia and/or adjacent regions. Active collaborative work in the Center for Southeast Asian Studies. The successful candidate will also be a full and active member of his or her home department.

A criminal background check will be conducted prior to hiring.
