Degree and area of specialization:
Registered Nurse degree required.
Bachelors degree in Nursing or related field
required.
Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber in psychiatric/mental
health
preferred.
License/certification:
Current Registered Nurse License for the State of Wisconsin is required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum two years experience in nursing required.
Experience in the field of developmental
disabilities preferred.
Experience in mental health and psychiatric medications preferred.
Experience in prescribing psychiatric medication
preferred.
Principal duties:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) must have a high degree of clinical expertise with a specific
focus on mental health/nursing support for people with developmental disabilities. The Clinical
Nurse Specialist must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities Include:
Provide overall coordination of the Waisman Center Community Training, Intervention and
Evaluations Services (TIES) Clinic which provides psychiatric consultation for adults and children
with developmental disabilities.
Assure that the clinic meets the requirements necessary to
continue billing Medical Assistance and Medicare.
Work closely with one or two psychiatrists
during patient visits to the clinic.
Schedule all patient visits.
Maintain accurate
patient records.
Conduct all related communications with patients, teams and psychiatrists
between appointments.
Work closely with the behavioral consultants who also work with
patients.
Work closely with administrative support staff related to billing Medical
Assistance, Medicare, HMOs and insurance companies.
In collaboration with the psychiatrist,
conduct psychiatric consultations and medication checks for certain patients (if a licensed Nurse
Prescriber).
Provide telephone consultations regarding psychiatric issues to supported
living/work program and families of persons with developmental disabilities.
Maintain
ongoing excellent relationships with the agencies contracted in Dane County to support people with
developmental disabilities.
Additional Information:
A Criminal Background check will be performed.
Regular Business Hours
between 8:00am-5:00pm. Occasional early evenings.
The position is located at 122 E Olin
Avenue with ample parking and good office
space.
