Relevant work
experience:
1. Experience using, implementing and/or delivering standards and assessments; deep
knowledge of WIDA products and resources and ability to discuss their relationship to educational
practice in K-12 environments, preferred;
2. Experience providing professional development
support to different audiences in a variety of educational contexts, including teachers,
administrators and other educational leaders;
3. Experience creating, developing and revising
materials and resources used to support the professional development of educators;
4. Experience
collaborating, co-planning and co-facilitating with other staff; ability to effectively communicate
and problem-solve with colleagues and supervisors;
5. Excellent organizational skills, ability
to organize and display information to suit the needs of diverse audiences; ability to work
independently and manage work load to meet outside deadlines and expectations;
6. Experience
coordinating training sessions, including planning and executing training;
7. Experience with
web-based technologies including Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; on line training
including WebEx, Web casts, and Two-Way video; and distance learning platforms including
Blackboard, eCollege, and D2L;
8. Exceptional social skills: ability to work as part of a team
of professional development trainers, external consultants, WCER technical support services and
WCER business office; Ability to identify different learning styles and adapting support
strategies
accordingly.
Principal duties:
The World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Consortium is a consortium of 20 member
states dedicated to the design and implementation of high standards and equitable educational
opportunities for English language learners. These twenty states account for close to 800,000
English language learners in kindergarten through grade 12. Research and professional development
(PD) activities are key to the implementation of the WIDA standards and assessment
products.
The Professional Development Outreach Specialist will support the development and
dissemination of professional development opportunities and resources to teachers and
administrators throughout the consortium.
1. Create and develop curricula and materials
for new professional development offerings, and enhance current offerings.
2. Collaborate with
the WIDA Professional Development Team, WIDA Professional Development Consultants, and WIDA Member
States to coordinate, develop, and deliver training and technical assistance for the WIDA
Consortium members;
3. Work with adult, professional development user groups on new techniques
and practices through meetings, workshops, conferences, the preparation of training materials, and
other means;
4. Collaborate with project leadership on training conferences which include
planning, development, delivery, and presentation of materials and resources;
5. Develop and
deliver on-line or web-based training materials and resources to members of the WIDA
Consortium
