Degree and area of specialization:
Ph.D. in English with emphasis in African American Literature.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of 3 years outstanding teaching experience at the college/university level.
For tenured
position, record of outstanding scholarly research and teaching is
required.
Principal duties:
The English Department is searching for a distinguished scholar in African American literature and
culture at the assistant or early associate professor rank. We seek applications from individuals
with excellent records of publication and teaching, with some preference for those applying at the
rank of advanced assistant or beginning associate professor.
The scholar will be required to
teach 4 courses per academic year and will be expected to conduct research in the areas that
correspond to the candidate's speciality and perform service as
appropriate.
