Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, or related bachelors degree with center based early childhood experience.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Required: 1 year of experience in a full-day child care center-based program. Care giver conviction
check required.

Preferred: 3 years experience in full-day child care center-based program, bilingual, previous
work with an international community, experience with High/Scope curriculum,experience with
licensing/accreditation.
Principal duties:
The primary responsibilities of the Eagle's Wing Early Childhood Teacher are to provide care for
children in a child-initiated learning environment and participate in administrative program
support. This includes providing general supervision and management for a classroom of children.
The center is licensed for 107 children between the ages of 18 months through 12 years. Toddler
and preschool programs provide year round full-day care with preschool also providing a half-day
care option.
The Pre-K-Plus program provides programming for eligible 4 and 5 year-olds
during the academic year. school-age programs provide before and after school care for
Kindergarten through fifth graders during the academic year and full-day care during the summer.
The Early Childhood Teacher reports to the Manager of Children's Services, with secondary
supervision by the Assistant Managers.
Functions:
A. Programming Responsibilities
1. Plan and facilitate a daily program of care and activities for the assigned classroom.
2. Contribute to the effective operation of the overall child program.
3. Implement the
High/Scope Cognitively Oriented preschool Curriculum, with classroom teaching teams.
4.
Arrange space, setting and materials in the classroom and outdoors, to ensure a clean, orderly,
child-centered environment.
5. Work to develop and maintain a supportive rapport with
parents/guardians, and facilitate parent/guardian participation in the classroom.
6.
Promote a multicultural and anti-bias approach to learning and to the center environment.
7.
Show respect for each child's culture and background.
8. Arrange for campus and community
field trips, insuring that safety standards are met.
B. Supervisory Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the daily supervision, training and evaluation of classroom staff, including
Assistant Teacher, Student Interns,Practica Students and Volunteers.
2. Act as a liaison
with sponsoring volunteer agencies, job coaches and student teacher placement
supervisors.
C. Administrative Responsibilities
1. Maintain regular communication
with parents/guardians, other teaching staff, volunteers, student teachers, the Manager of
Children's Services and Assistant Managers.
2. Observe and share information regarding
child's activities and experiences with the teaching team and parents/guardians as needed.
3.
Notify the Manager of Children's Services of classroom supplies and needs.
4. Participate in
emergency fire evacuation and lock-down procedures monthly.
5. Maintain licensing rules and
city/national accreditation standards.
6. Maintain records as needed.
7. Assist the
Assistant Manager with staff scheduling and help problem solve staffing for other classrooms on an
as-needed basis.
8. Assist with the planning and implementation of all new programs.
9. Actively participate in team planning meetings as fits into the daily schedule.
10. Attend
and actively participate in staff meetings and in-services as scheduled.
11. Actively respond,
as directed by Housing leadership, in the event of an emergency or when University Housing's
Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) is activated
i. Assist the staff and residents
on-site in instances of building or student emergencies.
ii. Help support the staff and
residents if University Housing's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) is operated.
iii.
Perform other duties outside of typical responsibilities, as assigned, during an emergency.
iv. Expected to provide after hours contact numbers.
D. General Responsibilities
1. Ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children.
2. Participate in snack
distribution and clean-up in accordance with state licensing guidelines.
3. Provide
recommendations and referrals for children with special needs.
4. Maintain knowledge of
the cultures in the community, particularly as they may relate to the children served by the
programs.
5. Attend parent or child care committee meetings as needed.
6.
Maintain a professional working atmosphere and confidentiality of information in relation to staff,
children, families and co-workers.
7. Perform other duties and responsibilities as
assigned by the Manager of Children's Services or Assistant
Managers.
