Degree and area of specialization:
B.S. in biological sciences, molecular and pathogenic microbiology or immunology
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Up to 4 years of laboratory (non-classroom) experience in molecular microbiology (e.g., cDNA cloning and plasmid preparation, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing) is preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong background in immunology and molecular microbiology.
Principal duties:
This position involves studying T cell immune responses in autoimmune diseases of the central
nervous system. The successful candidate will isolate immune and CNS cells, perform immunologic
assays (e.g. ELISPOT, flow cytometric intracellular cytokine staining), maintain cell lines, and
use molecular biology to help develop new reagents for studying the effects of mycobacterial
infections in multiple sclerosis. This position also requires the individual to participate in lab
management, conduct independent research projects as needed, and assist in the preparation of data
for publication
purposes.
Additional Information:
Required training: BSL-3 training and biosafety training are required and can be completed upon hire.
