Degree and area of specialization:
B.S. Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology or related field is required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
A minimum of 2 years experience with basic biochemistry and/or molecular biology (or related field) technique including RNA, DNA extraction, PCR, Western Blot and cell culture. Experience with histology and immunohistochemistry is also desirable. Experience with Excel and Word is required.
Principal duties:
The Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, is looking for an individual that can be an active participant in research projects with a specific focus on tissue engineering and immunology. The successful candidate will provide assistance in research or scientific problems, and apply related techniques (RNA, DNA extraction, PCR, Western Blot and cell culture), record-keeping and data collection, maintaining equipment, and ordering supplies. The incumbent will work closely with students, post-doctoral fellows, and other researchers on a variety of challenging projects on the cutting edge of laryngology research. This individual will also assist in the analysis and presentation of research data for manuscripts and grant applications.
