Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years of residency training or equivalent clinical experience. Candidates must have a strong commitment to professional education; prior teaching experience is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as clinical practice skills are required. Experience and interest in pharmacy practice in multicultural settings is desired.
Principal duties:
This individual will provide classroom instruction to PharmD students in the Pharmacotherapy
Laboratory and coordinate the experiential clerkship for second-year PharmD students.
Responsibilities include coordinating instructional laboratory exercises in collaboration
with faculty and other laboratory coordinators. Supervision and evaluation of a diverse group of
students and laboratory instructors, including pharmacy practice residents, is expected, as is the
ability to work well with staff in multicultural practice sites.
This individual will also
be directly responsible for the coordination of the experiential clerkship course for second-year
PharmD students. Responsibilities include integrating early practice experiences with course work
by establishing diverse clerkship sites, conducting site visits, and assessing student activities.
The successful candidate will also maintain a part-time clinical practice, participate in
scholarly activities, and engage in service-related activities within the school, university, and
community.
