Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. BA/BS in a business related field preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum of two years business management experience; Strong organizational, management, administration, implementation, customer service and communication skills; Experience developing, documenting and implementing systems and processes; Ability to work independently; Excellent computer skills including the ability to use databases, all Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and the Internet; Ability to manage and motivate a small staff of part-time people.

Principal duties:

Manage, develop, and promote the Wisconsin SBDC Business AnswerLine. The Business AnswerLine is a telephone hotline service that provides business assistance services via a toll-free number to people throughout Wisconsin from 8:30 AM ¿ 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Phone counselors answer business questions from people starting a business and in established businesses. The Business AnswerLine uses a computerized database to track customer calls and an on-line document library to provide callers with educational documents and referrals to appropriate agencies and service providers.

BUSINESS ANSWERLINE PROGRAM COORDINATION
> Work on the Business AnswerLine as a telephone counselor on a scheduled basis.
> Manage, train and schedule Business AnswerLine Counselors. Hire new staff when needed.
> Manage service delivery, monitor service quality benchmarks and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
> Manage the on-line document library and the processes to create new and update existing documents and information.
> Interface with the information technology department in regard to the On-line Counselor software program and telephone system.
> Maintain documentation for Online Counselor Software.
> Assist in developing the Business AnswerLine budget and monitor expenses.
> Communicate with and gather suggestions from WI SBDC centers and Wisconsin Entrepreneurs¿ Network (WEN) participating providers.
> Generate monthly AnswerLine call distribution and user survey reports and distribute to WI SBDC Center Directors and staff.
> Produce and disseminate a quarterly AnswerLine newsletter to WI SBDC and WEN participating providers.
> Participate in SBDC and WEN meetings.

(May include) WISCONSIN SBDC STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Manage professional development programs for the Wisconsin SBDC statewide network. Examples include quarterly half-day programs and short webinars. Manage new business counselor certification and new SBDC center director orientation.
> Manage a state-wide SBDC professional development advisory team.
> Organize professional development programs for WI SBDC statewide quarterly meetings.
> Organize periodic short webinars for statewide WI SBDC employee professional development.
> Oversee implementation of SBDC staff orientation and new business counselor certification programs and keep programs up-to-date.
> Keep statewide policies and procedures manual up-to-date.
> Provide new SBDC center directors with orientation about processes, procedures and reporting requirements.

OTHER
> Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
> Work on other duties as assigned by your direct supervisor.
> Communicate with your direct supervisor on a weekly basis in regards to meeting current goals and needs in meeting those goals.
