Degree and area of specialization:
B.S. degree required, in genetics, biology or related field preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
1-2 years laboratory experience preferred. Experience with computers.
Principal duties:
Use prior research expertise for projects in the investigation of genetic control of breast cancer development in mice. Perform and implement experiments applying general molecular biology techniques. Will perform and implement experiments with mice for maintenance and data acquisition, including weaning, surgeries, euthanasia and necropsies. Individual may be responsible for obtaining the necessary research chemicals, reagents and consumable supplies to perform experimental laboratory functions. Individual will be responsible for laboratory maintenance and proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste. In addition, the individual will be required to maintain accurate and detailed data from research findings and may assist principal investigator author in developing manuscripts for publication. This position requires excellent observational and record keeping skills, the ability and desire to research and learn new procedures and techniques, the ability to work as a member of a team, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
