Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in clinical practice in developmental pediatrics, preferably with a research interest and active, funded program. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with managerial and administrative experience as this position will be the division chief, expected to build the program, manage its resources and recruit additional faculty as needed. Candidates must possess academic credentials meriting senior level appointment on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track per established School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines.
Principal duties:
Principal responsibility will include leading the pediatric child development division, framing its
programmatic direction with the department chair (Ellen Wald, M.D.) and the director of the Waisman
Center (Marsha Seltzer, Ph.D.) and leading recruitments related to the division.
Clinically,
candidate will be part of an inter-disciplinary child development team. Faculty see patients as
part of the team (if appropriate) and also have independent clinics, typically based on the
patient's diagnosis. Expansion and enhancement of the division's program for neonates will also be
part of this position's responsibilities.
Teaching of medical students, residents, fellows
and other learners will be expected, in both clinical and classroom settings. This position will
also fine tune the division's educational goals and objectives within the department's teaching
mission.
Preferred candidates will also have research interests and have an active role in
mentoring junior faculty in the division/department with research
interests.
