Degree and area of specialization:

Master's degree required in statistics, economics, public policy, or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

1. Proficiency in one or more major statistical packages;
2. Fluency in written and spoken English;
3. Familiarity with the U.S. K-16 educational system (preferred).

Principal duties:

Wisconsin Center for Education Research's Value-Added Research Center (VARC) is at the forefront of scholarly work on the appropriate use of test results and to serve as a leader in advanced techniques of applying value-added analysis to robust evaluation models. The research team is engaged in a number of research and application projects that provide insights into various applications of robust evaluation designs.

The VARC Statistician will provide:
1. analysis of student outcome data from a variety of school districts to estimate value-added measures of school and classroom performance;
2. active engagement in statistical analysis to evaluate the impact of interventions on student learning and teacher practices; and
3. interpretation of results and preparation of reports for internal and external audiences.
