Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
4 years postdoctoral experience in retinal vascular biology; strong research background in diabetic retinopathy and other ocular diseases.
Principal duties:
> Development of mouse models for studying human ocular diseases with a neovascular component.
These include diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and retinopathy of
prematurity.
>Evaluating these pathologies quantitatively and study impacts of different genes
on these pathologies using transgenic mice.
> Performing retinal wholemount and eye frozen
sections immunohistochemical staining and evaluation of retinal and choroidal vascular
integrity.
> Preparing and culturing retinal and choroidal vascular cells from transgenic mice
for in vitro cell and biochemical studies.
> Collaborate in developing new lines of research in
the areas under investigation in the laboratory.
> Assume primary authorship responsibilities
for manuscripts related to assigned research.
> Collaborate with Principal Investigator in
writing and reviewing new grant initiatives.
> Maintain knowledge of current literature and
apply techniques to the research setting.
> Identify new research directions and ancillary study
opportunities.
