Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Minimum of four years of progressively professional experience in admissions or a closely related higher education field. Knowledge and experience with Peoplesoft Student Administration software with an admissions focus. Knowledge and experience with WebNow/ImageNow software/technology. Supervisory and leadership experience. Strong oral and written communications skills. Knowledge and experience with college credit evaulation as related to new freshmen, including Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and youth options credit programs.
Principal duties:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions-Operations, the Freshman Admissions Operation
Manager will coordinate and direct the daily operations pertaining to the receipt, review and
notification of domestic, freshman applications for admission and ancillary tasks such as college
credit evaluation, test scores submission, etc., as related to freshman admission and
enrollment.
Under the direction of the Associate Director-Operations:
Directly supervise
and manage 6 LTEs and two freshman admissions advisors and coordinate the efforts of 14 additional
staff in reviewing and making decisions on domestic, freshman applications for
admission;
Coordinate efforts with the Office Operations manager in the handling and
processing of freshman applications, mail, imaging and workflow development via WebNow/Image Now
technology and Peoplesoft technology;
Establish procedures and processes to effectively
handle the review of applications;
Gather data and evaluate processes within the Office of
Admissions; direct follow-up efforts to ensure complete, fair and thorough review of domestic
freshman applications;
Work with the Assistant Director of Technology to continually review,
establish, and implement procedures in the use of WebNow/ImageNow and Peoplesoft;
Coordinate
and implement training for 16/+ staff involved with freshman admission review;
Serve as
office expert and direct the efforts of freshman admissions staff in the awarding of advanced
standing credit via youth options, AP, IB and CLEP programs;
Serve as a member of our
professional team of admissions counselors. Review applications from an assigned territory of high
schools. Advise and counsel prospective freshman, parents and others regarding opportunities at
UW-Madison and procedures related to application and enrollment. Serve as an office expert, mentor
and leader in this regard.
Conduct public relations and recruitment activities including
but not limited to college fairs, high school visits, receptions and our daily visit program.
Present at information sessions and serve as counselor on duty.
