Master's or other graduate degree in nutritional sciences, family/consumer sciences, adult/continuing education or related field.

The following are required qualifications
A. Experience in working with multicultural audiences
in educational settings with demonstrated ability to effectively work in non-formal educational
settings
B. Demonstrated ability to initiate, form, and effectively maintain working
relationships with persons or associations from cultures other than one's own
C. Ability to
teach and present ideas effectively orally, in writing, and through educational technology
D.
Evidence of ability to develop and/or support educational programs for individuals and groups of
learners from various cultural backgrounds
E. Experience developing, implementing, and
evaluating nutrition education programs for low income audiences
F. Ability to train and advise
educators who work in non-formal educational settings
G. Strong interpersonal skills in a team
setting and on an individual basis
H. Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work
cooperatively with other agencies and other community-based organizations
I. Ability to
organize work and to work independently
J. Ability to use word-processing and the
internet
Principal duties:
- In collaboration with other Extension specialists and WNEP state staff, provide expertise and
leadership for WNEP educational efforts, especially related to planning, implementing, and
evaluating nutritional education programs to reach new, emerging, and underserved low-income
audiences.
- Monitor, maintain and develop (as necessary) teaching resources and training
materials for use in WNEP that incorporate cogent principles of educational theory and research,
reflect current public health priorities and address learners' lifestyle preferences and needs,
especially for new, emerging, and underserved low-income learners
- Review nutrition and
food-related teaching materials for accuracy and appropriateness for learners from various cultural
groups; revise/adapt materials as necessary for use in WNEP
-Prepare culturally relevant
educational materials, program evaluation resources and reports using appropriate and innovative
technology
- Provide leadership to statewide efforts to collect and summarize outcomes and
impacts related to programming for new, emerging and underserved low-income audiences
- Provide
guidance, leadership, and technical expertise to county-based WNEP staff to build skills and
capabilities in teaching limited-income multi-cultural learners; assist in training WNEP
educators
-Possibly Serve as WNEP Advisor to selected county-based WNEP coordinators in one
Districts as they plan and conduct educational programs, prepare reports and participate in
statewide program efforts
-Regularly prepare educational materials, program evaluations and
reports using appropriate technology
-Make all reasonable efforts to reach a diverse audience
and to ensure equitable access to programs and facilities

-Develop and follow a plan for personal professional development in
priority subject matter and educational delivery methods consistent with personal and
organizational goals and the responsibilities of this position
-Participate in state program
activities as appropriate and needed
-Regularly participate in meetings and events held at sites
throughout the state of Wisconsin, including occasional evening and weekend work
-Make
individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential
job functions including regular travel throughout the state
-Keep accurate, complete, and timely
work records
-Other responsibilities may be assigned as organizational priorities change over
time
Additional Information:
Purpose and Primary Focus of Position: The Wisconsin Nutrition Education Program (WNEP) is a major effort within Cooperative Extension's Family Living Programs. The UW Department of Nutritional Sciences collaborates with UW-Extension Family Living Programs to support the efforts of WNEP. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership in meeting the nutrition education needs of new and emerging underserved audiences in Wisconsin. This involves providing research-based information and training to Extension educators who are working with culturally-diverse low-income audiences on providing culturally sensitive nutrition education and community outreach. It also involves providing guidance and expertise to further impact evaluation efforts within WNEP as it pertains to this audience and offering support and advice to county-based Extension educators, especially WNEP coordinators in selected counties in developing local partnerships, designing and adapting delivery of program and teaching resources to meet needs of audience.
