Degree and area of specialization:
MD or DO; Board Certified/Eligible in applicant's primary area of training (e.g., Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology or Neurology) and certification in Critical Care Medicine.
License/certification:
Eligible for medical license in Wisconsin; Critical Care Medicine certification.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Prior experience in multi-disciplinary critical care environment desired. Candidates for
appointment as Clinical Associate Professor will possess scholarly credentials and experience per
established SMPH guidelines for promotion and appointment on the Clinician-Teacher
track.
Principal duties:
The eICU provides 24/7 service to remote critical care locations. This position will share
staffing requirements of this service with others. A full-time position will consist of
approximately three to four 12-hour shifts per week. Participation in departmental education
programs will be included as appropriate.
The eICU program restructures the practice of
critical care by centralizing competencies which may be difficult to recruit and retain in
community/outreach locations. The addition of virtual critical care specialists allows for
immediate assistance to bedside
clinicians.
