Degree and area of specialization:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Demonstrate potential in scholarship, teaching and research in one of the indicated areas. Strong aptitude for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and an outstanding ability to conduct collaborative externally-funded research.
Principal duties:
Develop, adapt and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Mechanical Engineering;
supervise graduate student research; develop and direct funded research; participate in faculty
governance and public service.
Research areas of interest include (but are not limited to)
- Dynamics, computer aided design, and cyber-mechanical systems
- Electro- and
thermal-mechanical systems
- Solid mechanics and mechanical systems for micro and nano
applications
- Energy, sustainable energy, future fuels and
biofuels
