Degree and area of specialization:
PhD in Statistics or Biostatistics and some expertise in clinical trials or computational statistics.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Years of experience will be commensurate with position sought, i.e. Assistant or Associate Professor. Associate professor candidates will possess credentials for tenured appointment at UW-Madison.
Principal duties:
The incumbent will teach one to two courses per year; participate in the training of graduate
students; consult with other investigators in the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and
Public Health; collaborate with scientists working on clinical or translational research; conduct
research on biostatistical methods; present research at national meetings and publish results in
leading biostatistical and statistical journals and medical journals; participate in professional,
university and community service.
Depending on qualifications and interest, the position can
be a joint position (e.g. a 50-50 split for the academic year) between the Department of Statistics
and the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics. In the event that this position is
tenured 100% through the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics the incumbent may be
hired on an annual (12-month)
basis.
