Degree and area of specialization:
M.D., completion of U.S. pediatric residency program and fellowship in either clinical, biochemical or molecular genetics.
License/certification:
WI medical licensure, BE/BC clinical, biochemical or molecular genetics
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Prefer (but does not require) 5 or more years in an academic setting with experience in a leadership role. Knowledge and experience with the training of genetic counselors and training program requirements are essential. Appointment at associate professor (CHS) level on this track requires that candidate meets requirements for rank per established UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines.
Principal duties:
50% time in clinical care of patients in the field of genetic disorders.
30% time in
administration of the genetics counselors' training program.
20% time in teaching activities
to learners such as genetic counselor students, medical students, residents and
fellows.
