Degree and area of specialization:

An earned Ph.D. in wildlife ecology, conservation biology or allied field, with interests in domestic and international conservation issues and threatened and endangered species. An emphasis on avian ecology and conservation is very desirable, but not essential.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Post-Ph.D. research and teaching experience is desirable but not essential. Candidates must demonstrate a proficiency in teaching, attracting extramural funding and publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.

Principal duties:

Develop a strong and well-funded program in wildlife ecology/conservation biology at scales ranging from local to international. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a core undergraduate course in wildlife management as well as undergraduate and graduate level courses in conservation biology and their area of expertise. Additional responsibilities include participation in faculty-led graduate seminars; advising undergraduate majors; and mentoring masters and doctoral students. The incumbent is expected to participate in conservation biology and ornithological activities across campus, and perform university and community service as appropriate.
