Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Credentials and experience to serve as medical director of the Wisconsin Dept. of Health and Family Services' Mental health and Substance Abuse Services. Academic credentials for assistant professor or associate professor rank on the CHS track, a non-tenure track focusing on clinical, educational and/or service activities. Associate professor rank requires meeting school-wide criteria for rank and review by the CHS track promotions and appointments committee.
Principal duties:
Pursue scholarly activity in the area of public mental health policy and assessment of
community delivery systems. Disseminate state-of-the-art delivery systems design concepts
statewide to public and private mental health agencies, including tribal programs and
agencies.
Act as the Medical Director of the State of Wisconsin Department of Health &
Family Services (DHFS) Mental Health & Substance Abuse Servies. Provide consultation and
leadership on the use of evidence-based mental health substance abuse services in the Wisconsin
Community, Forensics, Medicaid and public mental health and substance abuse system.
Develop
and oversee a statewide community services quality improvement program. Draw together community
advocates and representatives of BMHSAS, Community Forensics, BQA and the Division of Health Care
Finance to identify and develop policies to maximize the public health of the citizens of
Wisconsin.
Participate in the University of Wisconsin Community Psychiatry Training program,
working with medical students, psychiatry residents and other trainees to increase expertise in
community based and public sector mental health and substance abuse treatment.
Participate in the general teaching and clinical activities of the Department of
Psychiatry, including the supervision and training of medical students, residents and other health
professional trainees.
