Principal duties:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks a highly qualified candidate in genomics, proteomics and/or metabolomics of foodborne microbial pathogens for a tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor level) within its Food Pathogens and Toxins Cluster (see http://www.clusters.wisc.edu/). The position provides a 9-month appointment with competitive startup package including state-of-the art laboratory facilities located within the new Microbial Sciences Building. Areas of emphasis may include pathogenesis and virulence, biochemical and genetic regulation of toxin syntheses, and systematic/ecological interactions between microbial foodborne pathogens and their environment, especially food matrices. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an innovative research program that reflects the tradition of research excellence at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; obtain extramural research funding; advise graduate students and mentor postgraduate research personnel; teach undergraduate and graduate courses and develop new courses in his/her area of expertise; participate in the UW-Madison Food Research Institute (FRI) program; participate in faculty governance activities of his/her home department, college, and/or university; have primary and/or joint faculty appointments as appropriate in departments participating in food-safety related fields. Perform university and community service as appropriate.
