Welcome to the Office of Human Resources

The Office of Human Resources exists to serve faculty and staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive personnel, training and employment relations system. Through consultation and information dissemination, we assist the University of Wisconsin-Madison to anticipate and meet the human resources demands of a changing educational environment.

New HR Design Personnel System

As of July 1, 2015, University of Wisconsin–Madison implemented a new personnel system separate and distinct from state government and other UW campuses. The HR Design strategic plan provides the overall strategy for the new personnel system. The plan intentionally takes a strategic and long-term view of how we attract, develop and manage talent on our campus. Therefore, the full implementation of the new personnel system will occur over time.

The campus human resources policies, including the new HR Design policies, have been moved to a new HR policies homepage.

Current University Staff-Exempt employees may be eligible to choose to transfer to the Academic Staff (Unclassified) category. Eligible employees received notes from their Human Resources office regarding this opportunity, and were invited to presentations by OHR staff in March 2016.
