Attend a three day training offered by the Spatial Information and Analysis Consortium which covers Introduction to and Advanced ArcView 3.x.  Training includes manual, technical articles and handouts.  ArcView is used for making and viewing maps used at the research station for field work and planning.

Travel to the FLEAT Conference at Brigham Young University in Provo UT.  Present a paper on some foreign-language testing software I wrote here at UW.  Participate in the conference, including attending sessions, with peers from other universities. Participate in leadership meetings of the International Association for Language learning Technology, which is co-sponsoring the Conference and for which I am the Webmaster.

Attend the Victim Offender Mediation Association's "21" Annual Training Institute and Confere4nce in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Conduct a workshop to discuss victim offender conferencing cases in which the person convicted of the offense denies responsibility in whole or in part.

Attend the 116th AAMC Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.  Exhibit methods and results from an innovative externship pilot program for UW and MCH medical students in the area of Alzheimer's disease.  Network with other universities and medical schools to generate ideas for future innovative strategies for educating UW medical students.

Plan to present a paper at the Sixth International Conference on Clinical Legal Education in October 2005 on "Enriching Clinical Education."  The paper will be discussing the pedagogy of innocence projects, focusing on the educational value and objectives of such clinical projects that focus on large, complex cases.

Attend the American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) in Vancouver, British Columbia.  Courses, speakers, and informal discussions with peers will provide detailed information and useful ideas related to biological safety, biosecurity, and select agents.  This information will greatly assist my ability to ensure a safe and secure environment in our laboratory, department, and in other areas of the UW-Madison campus.

Attend a one-on-one mentoring program in American Sign Language (20 hours) and one-on-one instruction in interpreting for the deaf (20 hours).  My goal would be to improve my sign language skills and to introduce me to some of the basics of interpreting for the deaf.

Attend and participate in the 2005 International Conference on Health Policy Research.  Plan to submit an abstract to this conference comparing statistical approaches to explaining racial disparities in treatments.  Plan to learn and share with others statistical techniques that I will use on projects studying racial disparities in healthcare treatment and outcomes.

Attend the National American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) meeting in St. Louis, MO.  This the major meeting for people responsible for all aspects of laboratory animal research.  I will present a poster on dealing with the dental health of a primate colony.

Attend and present my research at the 2005 Education Forum of the Association of Physician Assistant (PA) Programs.  This annual event affords PA educators the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with educators from over 100 other PA programs through lectures, workshops, roundtable discussions, and research presentations.  I expect to present my own original research on national PA practice trends.

Attend the 5th World Congress of the International Health Economics Association and present a paper on the economic impact of chronic pain on primary care patients.  This Congress attracts the world's leaders in health economics and the interactions will be invaluable in my development as an analyst.

Attend The Society of Environmental Journalists meeting in Austin, Tx.  It is a national organization for practicing professionals and academics specializing in media coverage of environmental research and policy.  The annual meeting includes presentations on technical and substantive topics, workshops, roundtable discussions, and field trips to environmental research sites and "hot spots."

Attend Cornell University's Recirculation Short Course in San Diego, CA.  This course will develop engineering expertise in recirculation aquaculture systems in the Biological Systems Engineering Department that can be incorporated into extension and outreach efforts to support the aquaculture industry in Wisconsin and specifically to help identify opportunities to conserve energy and could benefit Wisconsin fish farmers.
