| Job Summary: |
Under the general supervision of the Financial Management Supervisor for
Financial Operations in the Controller¿s Office at UW-Madison, this position is
one of a group of professional accountants who manage processes and systems
which are used by UW-Madison to collect financial information. The financial
information is used to trigger processing activities in the UW System Shared
Financial System (SFS) and related subsidiary ledgers. Information in these
subsidiary ledgers and SFS are accessed by end users primarily via the
Web-based Wisconsin Integrated Data Mart (WISDM) and SQL query tools against
the WISDM data stars. These sources provide financial management information
for the schools, colleges, divisions and departments at UW-Madison.
Information in these data sources is also used to prepare the UW-Madison and UW
System Annual Financial Reports and the State of Wisconsin Consolidated Annual
Financial Report (CAFR). This position (and the other accountant positions)
are responsible for reconciling data in these data sources. ). Requires
knowledge of the broadest possible variety of University funding sources.
Requires knowledge of Federal regulations, State of Wisconsin, UW System, and
UW-Madison campus rules, regulations and guidelines. This position has primary responsibility for the accurate maintenance of records in UW-Madison¿s Capital Equipment Inventory Management System (CEIMS). These records must be kept in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and State of Wisconsin, UW System and Federal policies in this area. CEIMS stores information about approximately 125,000 pieces of moveable capital equipment which meet the State¿s definition of capital equipment. Also manage the posting of payroll transactions for UW-Madison to the subsidiary ledger (SFD) in the Shared Financial System and eventually post to the General Ledger in SFS ; Provide Journal Entry Tool (JET) support to Madison campus users of this system. As with all the accountant positions in the Controller¿s Office, this position provides backup support to other accountants in the Controller¿s Office as needed. | |
