| Job Summary: |
Serve as the chief accountant for the University of Wisconsin Paul P. Carbone
Comprehensive Cancer Center (UWCCC), and administrative unit of the University
of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). This position is
responsible for establishing and maintaining UWCCC financial systems and
records management according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
that are compliant with all regulatory requirements. The UWCCC had annual
expenditures of $25M in 2006/2007 with revenue from a variety of sources
including grants and contracts from the federal government, direct support from
SMPH, industry sponsored research awards, income derived from the operation of
shared services, contributions to donation accounts, and investment earnings
and appreciation. The UWCCC is the focus for collaborative translational
research for cancer treatment and prevention and community outreach for 250
faculty members from nine schools and 55 departments on the UW-Madison campus.
The UWCCC operates fourteen shared services funded by revenue producing
accounts that support the research activities of the members. This position
provides oversight and leadership for the centralized management, analysis, and
deployment of the UWCCC's fiscal resources within a distributed environment
that encourages and empowers local management. This position also provides day
to day oversight of the UWCCC purchasing and payroll activities. This position is expected to follow the policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards for excellence and professionalism established by the UWCCC and the University of Wisconsin. | |
